The little button

The boss has a major obsession with classic car dashboards. Those beautiful retro designs with large dials and needles, those fine woods combined with slender chrome pieces, the panels with colored bulbs, all those buttons, handles, and switches that live in perfect harmony in vehicles of yesteryear.

In his workplace, he has a computer screen from which he controls the entire SpotModel "engine", as if it were a dashboard, with a wood-colored background full of indicators, colorful things and flashing lights, resembling a classic car...

A few days ago, the tech guys added a new button to SpotModel's control panel. It's a red button, very sensitive, and they warned him NOT TO TOUCH IT. And what's the boss doing all day now? Pressing that little red button, with all the terrible consequences that entails.

Every time the boss presses the new red button, the system displays a product with a reduced price in the Specials section. He presses it again, and another product goes on sale. He presses it, and yet another. And he keeps pressing and displaying more and more products on sale...

We're not crazy at SpotModel with so many offers, we're just looking for a way to remove the little button... XD

Fuengirola 2026

We are lucky to be able to attend the "Fuengirola, un Sol de Ciudad" Scale Modeling Contest every year, which is the oldest and most established scale model making and miniature contest in Spain. It has been held for over 30 years, and every June hundreds of national and international participants gather there to exhibit more than a thousand static scale model works.

It is organized by the Fuengirola Miniatures Association in collaboration with the City Council and, among the endless list of categories, we have 5 sections for civilian vehicles to which gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded, in addition to special prizes.

This year, one of the special prizes is awarded to what is known as the Challenge, which on this occasion will reward the best German-made vehicle in 1/24 scale.

In addition to the exhibition and model competition, there will be conferences, training workshops, children's modeling courses, live demonstrations by great masters and a large commercial area with specialized shops in the sector.

And above all this, the best part of the event: meeting up with several of the best civilian scale modelers over a plate of grilled sardines and some cold beers!

Let's charge the SpotModel camera batteries, we're going to need them this weekend!!!

One of the most absolutely spectacular, impressive, aggressive, and beautiful modern racing cars we've seen in recent years is the Aston Martin Valkyrie, whose rear end leaves you breathless with that gigantic, otherworldly diffuser. It's so low, so wide, and so beautiful! And it has that enormous gap under the diffuser that practically begs you to lie down and enjoy the shade and the smell of gasoline...

In the 2025 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and under the banner of the Aston Martin THOR Team, two cars raced with numbers #007 and #009 and with a unique color scheme. Profil24 has reproduced them in 1/24 scale resin. But it's not just the car that's interesting; what we find truly remarkable is that, for the first time for the brand, it incorporates 3D-printed parts in addition to the usual resin castings, photo-etched parts, decals, vacuum forming, and instructions. A significant leap forward for Profil24 in terms of quality and detail. Congratulations, guys!!

It's summer at SpotModel, and summer brings with it a bit more free time. We're not workaholics, but we love what we do! And we can't help but dedicate some of that free time (not all of it, of course) to thinking about some aspects and details that will help improve our service and our website.

On this occasion, we have fulfilled a need that had been on our minds for some time: a new SpotModel box model, the SpotBox09.

This new box is slightly taller, wider, and longer than the SpotBox03, making it perfect for orders containing a scale model kit and a few bottles of paint, or even some resin or tools. It's also ideal for larger model kits, like those from Heller, or taller ones from Tamiya or Hasegawa. This also helps us reduce shipping costs by avoiding larger boxes that take up a lot of empty space simply because they're a few centimeters short of fitting the materials. Of course, it's fully customized, adding a touch to SpotModel's signature design that we're absolutely sure you'll love.

Huracán GT3

A few months ago we got our hands on the prototype of the absolutely spectacular Lamborghini Huracan GT3 scale model that KMP was preparing, and for the last few days the different liveries for both the GT3 and GT3 Evo versions have been available on the SpotModel website. We wouldn't know which one to choose!!!

We'll have the first shipment in a few weeks, and the second shipment is scheduled for November. So, if you want to take advantage of the summer to start building these beautiful models, you'll have to hurry and reserve as many as you want as soon as possible.

The Culprit

Yesterday we were searching for inspiration for a pit stop diorama. We looked through some books and the boss's collection of old pictures until we found one that quickly captivated us. It's a gorgeous Alfa Romeo GTAm that raced at the Nürburgring in 1986, super fat, matte black, with a livery of large white letters, and surrounded by a whole host of interesting characters: all sorts of onlookers, photographers, the drivers, the apprentice mechanic cleaning the windshield, a guy in black swim trunks under an umbrella, a young man who can't decide whether to go to the beach or go horseback riding...

But the one who caught our attention the most was the culprit... Who are we talking about? Well, the guy with long blond hair, a green t-shirt and blue jeans who, without anyone telling him to, puts and takes off stickers on the car. And of course, years later, we modelers go crazy because we see that the same car, in the same race, keeps losing or gaining sponsor stickers and of course... which ones do you put on your model? The decals corresponding to the start of the race, the halfway point, or the finish line? This is insane... XD

We at SpotModel don't know the boy's name yet, but we're sure we'll find out. XD

Holi... what?

Three newsletters ago we mentioned that it's summer around here... and what a summer it is!!! We're reaching temperatures that are approaching 40 degrees far too often, and what can we say... Nobody can bear this with dignity.

But we have a commitment, and that is that from the very beginning at SpotModel, we decided that we wouldn't close for holidays. So here we are, another week, with a newsletter packed with news.

Of all the models we're featuring this week, we want to highlight the 1/12 scale model of the Porsche 917 Long Tail that raced at Le Mans in 1969, which is about to arrive (if it hasn't already by the time you're reading this) from Model Factory Hiro. My goodness, speaking of heat, is there anything sexier than the pictures of this machine showing off its engine and other fully detailed interior parts? It makes you want to yell, "Take it all off!!!" XDDDD

It looks like the heat is starting to melt our brains, but whatever the case, SpotModel will remain open during the holidays.

Eclipse

Today's news focuses on the solar eclipse that will be visible in many parts of the world, a rare phenomenon that undoubtedly captures everyone's attention. But beware, because behind the beauty and uniqueness lies danger: we can suffer significant eye damage if we view the eclipse without proper protection, which would be truly detrimental to our vision and, therefore, to our hobby.

Frankly, we can't remember the last time there was an eclipse, but we were definitely building models back then...XD. Maybe we were painting them with Molak's colors.

So, from SpotModel, we urge you to exercise extreme caution. Our best advice for the upcoming eclipse is... keep building scale models!

You can always take advantage of the less intense sunlight to paint some pieces in peace, or you can simply check out the new arrivals on the SpotModel website...

Today we come with a maxi smile on our faces thanks to the USCP team, who have fulfilled one of the greatest scale modelling dreams of all time: a transkit to convert the Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo Rally into the mythical and beautiful Renault 5 Maxi Turbo.

Designed entirely in 3D, it includes the entire front of the car, the rear hatch with the characteristic spoiler, the rims and various interior parts.
